Competing With Mother

Life is such a tapestry. Life along side death, the circulation between these two forces defines everything on this blue planet. The constant birth of new entities and demise of youngsters of yesterday.

These seeds have germinated and now competing not only with mother, but with other fellow siblings for food, light, water and most importantly, space. Many have come and lost this battle for survival; now is their turn to try their luck for a chance to become a tree.

Beautifully taken, and very moving image and words, Amir. Thank you.
It does seem such a brutal process, doesn't it? And indeed, not just in nature, but throughout human history and civilisation there have been so many, too many instances of mankind showing such brutality to one another. And those who tried to champion a nobler, kinder way have often been 'stomped' on in the process...
Strangely enough, I still believe there is hope for all of us. :) Somewhere in the midst of all that self-centredness and brutality in which man seems no nobler than plant or beast, there is still a moral code operating somehow somewhere in the hearts of man (and woman :) ), for those who would listen to it. I believe this is reflected for example, albeit imperfectly, in the ancient chinese Confucian (as distinct from Taoism or Buddhism which came to China in later times) thinking which emphasised order, filial piety, nobility (not of rank but of actions and attitude), equity, humaneness and loyalty. I believe this is also what the historical Jesus demonstrated perfectly in his life and self-sacrifice. So, here's a smile for you, friend. There is hope :)
