Lost Valley View from Kamloops, British Columbia (west coast), Canada

I like the roughness of this photo!!! I wanna run through the tall grasses!!! This is cool in IR!!!

5 Sep 2007 5:22am

@Lost Valley View: Thanks you, but with Texas heat and humidity I highly doubt you would wanna run, just kidding.

Quintino from Joane, Portugal

What I like most is the sensation of freedom you get watching the photo.
And yes, it makes you wish you could run through all that grass...

@Quintino: Thanks for visiting.

Rebecca from Leicester, United Kingdom

I love these wide open rural spaces!! Looks like I could run through that for miles!! Lovely composition, Amir. Especially with the IR, IMO it gives it this sense of timelessness!

@Rebecca: Yes, Texas is kind of under-developed state so one sees a lot of this everywhere.

Aidan Hammond from Seoul, South Korea

Great colours and tones - I'm really attracted to the textures in the trees and how they contrast with those of the field.

Twelvebit from Victoria, United States

If you want to get a really good idea of how much of the state is undeveloped, you should see a map that represents the density of electric load. Whole counties are empty in some regions like West Texas and the Panhandle. I've read that since most digital cameras have built-in IR blocking filters, when you use an IR filter you have to greater increase your exposure times. Do you find that to be the case?

7 Sep 2007 1:20am

@Twelvebit: Thanks for information on Texas.

About IR, of course depending on your camera the IR blocking filter varies in strength. The rule of thumb is that older camera have weaker blocker, therefore more suitable for IR. My Canon A640 has pretty descent IR sensitivity but not that sensitive to render tripod useless, if you know what I mean. You still need tripod to manage good and fairly crisp shot with IR filter in front. Needless to say that with increase in ISO one would probably be able to take hand-held shots, but at that point noise becomes an issue.

Hope to have answered your question properly. Thanks for coming.

fred from ffgfgfg, Cape Verde

Hamid from Tehran, Iran

I feel hot when I look at this. I gives me a sense of heat i don't know why, might be because of that line of brightness in the middle. Nice job.

@Hamid: Thanks for your kind input Hamid jan.
