Carried My TaskPosted by Amir (Tehran, Iran) on 29 September 2007 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. ّFort Worth, TX This is a common cone from a typical coniferous trees, also known as evergreens. In oppose to deciduous trees, coniferous trees have spiny leaves year-long and that contributes to their common name "evergreen". Usually coniferous trees have cone like fruits that house their genetic materials (seeds). Initially the cone is closed and in protective form, but under ideal conditions it opens up and release the seeds to continue the progeny. I took this shot in the middle of a very young tree. It seemed that this particular cone has done what it does best, to release it seeds in hope that some will eventually become trees. Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesI like the colors in this one. I also appreciate the fact that you know what you're taking a photo of, whereas all the description I could offer would be "pine cone." 29 Sep 2007 2:32pm @Twelvebit: I appreciate your words my friend. I know little about these things. Human knowledge doesn't even touch the surface of knowledge as a whole. Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomThis is an absolutely beautiful image, Amir. Love it!! :) 30 Sep 2007 12:17am @Rebecca: Thanks dear. |
