These concrete protrusions are located down stream from a man made lake. Their purpose is to reduce the speed of water in case of a flood. As you can tell by the shrubs at the the top, this place has not seen much of a flood in recent years.

What an interesting capture ! I would never think it would be used for flooding control!

@Quintino: I am glad you liked it
Nice light and shadow composition.
I'm curious what kind of tripod do you use? Your photos are always so sharp. No one ever mentions tripod when they list their equipments so I'm just wondering. I don't actually own one that's why some of my photos are blurry. So only answer if you can. Thanks.

@lissa: I have one Gorillapod SLR, which is the medium size one among all their products. But for most of my shots, I carry a small "bean bag", or I shall say "rice bag". I have made it my self. It's nothing but a little fabric bag full of rice (3"x3"). I usually put in places I like and form it to support my camera. I really don't like to be visible photographing while in public. So I don't lug around full size tripods.
Hope that helped. Thanks
Thanks Amir. The Gorillapod sounds like something I can use. I'll look into it. That rice bag is a great idea. You're quite a creative photographer. I also think lugging around a full size tripod a pain but I know some photographer do carry them.
I also don't want to stand out when I'm photographing something. I feel a little embarrass to take the shot sometimes.
Thank you Amir for answering my question.

@lissa: I am glad lissa, hope you find your best option. About the embarrassment in public, We are all like you, so you are not the only one

@renee mudd: Thanks dude
This is a very interesting piece; the shadows are especially clear on the surface of whatever this is -- it appears to be something like polished granite or marble -- is that what it is? And if it is polished stone, I am left wondering why it would be polished at all, since its fate is to be a bolster against flooding and would likely be coated with mud and junk if the waters over-ran the top of this berm.
But then <shrugs> who can understand the Texan mind? Ha-ha!

@Viewfinder: It's made of Concrete, And it's not polished. It's HDR that made look different. Thanks a lot
What a beautiful & interesting capture!

Wow! Dear Amir, this is absolutely stupendous!!! Have I said before how your photography and processing skills are light-years ahead of mine?!! See!!!! Who would have thought that’s concrete we’re looking at?!!! It certainly looks like marble indeed!! Not just the protrusions, but the ground as well. In fact, I was thinking, on first looking at this photo, that this was from an ancient palace of some kind. Those protrusions and their stunning reflections onto the ground look so regal!! Really superb angle as well. WOW again, dear friend!! May I apologise too for the late time of this visit to your p-blog today. it's been one of those very long days in our household. Blessings always to you, dear friend.
