Babylonian Art In LAPosted by Amir (Tehran, Iran) on 9 November 2007 in Architecture and Portfolio. Hollywood, CA This is some of building arts in Famous Hollywood's Kodak Theater. It is inspired by Babylonian civilization, one of the oldest civilizations known to man. Babylonia is todays Iraq, the country that people often refer to as uncivilized and backward. When we Persians were busy uniting and building city/states, Babylonians where a successful and mighty culture. with a civilization roughly 4000 years old, why some dare questioning their civility? Beautiful art and great contribution to human history. See the original at Flickr If you find my photos interesting, please take a moment and vote for me at Photoblog Awards. Rags from Plano, United Statesi am one of the people who believe that we owe a lot of what we have to ancient iraq. Sadly, it is the winners who write the history books, and it is they that would like us to believe that your people were uncivilized and backward. This is of course far from the truth. Please show us and educate us more about your people! 9 Nov 2007 6:39am @Rags: Thanks for your support, but I am Persians and ethnically different from Babylonians (Iraqis). But We all live in the same region and share many things. @Silvia: Thanks @ColNed Pictures: Thanks dear Brian from West Lafayette, United StatesGreat image--I love the light and textures. 9 Nov 2007 3:42pm @Brian: I appreciate your visit @Reza: Thank you dear @Rabbit: Indeed, thanks Quintino from Joane, PortugalBeautiful... but I guess original is much more beautiful! 9 Nov 2007 9:39pm @Quintino: I bet it is Tina from United StatesDear Amir 10 Nov 2007 1:35am @Tina: Good ol'days for me. Enjoy California while you can Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomAn outstanding piece yet again. There is a real sense of majesty that comes across in this beautiful composition and perfect lighting, dear Amir. And I deeply appreciate your thoughtful narrative. It is true, what you’ve said. We human beings forget too easily all that has taken place in history, and the deep roots of civilisation in these amazing ancient cultures. Thank you for this precious reminder, dear friend. 10 Nov 2007 4:03am @Rebecca: Thanks dear Rebecca, you are absolutely right, but what can we do, people are forgetful eddie from United StatesGood documentary photo Amir,...unfortunately many cultures are convieniently set aside in the march to 10 Nov 2007 4:25am @eddie: You are right on point. Look at what has been done to Natives of this continent in the name of colonialism, bringing civilization and freedom, Sad but true. Humans are lowest of low. FC from NewYork, United StatesOne civilization has been 'trying' to wipe out another, since the dawn of man.. Beautiful image, clearly focus with nice balance..and lighting..Thank Youl 10 Nov 2007 5:26am @FC: No, you said what many fear to say, "We humans are minimally higher than animal", I go further to say in some instances way lower indeed. I couldn't say it better myself. You are the man for saying what us right not what others think you should say. The history is something that no one learns from it, but all are destined to taste it one way or another. Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesThere is an interesting comment in the movie "The Waking Life" --essentially a philosophical meditation and exploration of the dream state-- that goes something like: there is a greater difference between an Einstein and the average man than there is between the average man and a Chimpanzee. This is a great movie by the way --one I highly recommend. 10 Nov 2007 4:02pm Patricia Nichol from Roban, Malaysiapersian is iranian.. right.. nice architecture pic 17 Nov 2007 3:07am @Patricia Nichol: That's right, thanks for your visit |
