A Nation In Love With War

No other nation in the history of mankind had fought so many wars in so little time. America in 230 years of its history has gone to useless, pointless and bloody wars almost every decade. From eradication of native people to wars with former colonial powers, it's civil wars, two world wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq 1st, Afghanistan, Iraq 2nd. How can a nation so much consumed by hate and war be a leader of this so called "civilized nations"? This is just beyond me.

I don't think America is unique in the abuse of power. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Frankly, people have always sucked and probably always will suck. Man is the first problem. As this country has become more powerful it has also become more corrupt; but it is either already at the point, or approaching the point, where its pervasive corruption will bring about its own destruction.

Our "leaders," like other "leaders" in other countries, know that militarism and nationalism are the magic keys to the kingdom of wealth and power, especially when used against "enemies" that are little or no real threat. Notice, we're not taking on even relatively minor powers like Russia or China. And we won't take on any country of any size that has nuclear weapons it could use on us.

That's why anyone who isn't completely blinded by government propaganda knew from the outset that Iraq had no WMD's (a BS term anyway, intended to conflate just about any weapon with nuclear weapons in order to justify extreme action). It would have been pure lunacy to mass troops to attack Iraq if Iraq had any real WMD's. And if we attack Iran, that in and of itself will prove that our government doesn't believe Iran has nuclear weapons.

I'm with Gandhi on the subject of Western civilization --when asked what he thought of it he said it would be a good idea.
